UN Liaison Office for Peace and Security (UNLOPS)

UNLOPS represents the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA), Peace Operations (DPO), Operational Support (DOS) and the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) in Brussels and liaises on all matters related to peace and security that fall under the remit of these four entities.

UNLOPS was established in Brussels in 2011 to develop closer, more predictable and continuous partnerships between the UN and the European Union (EU), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and other Brussels-based organizations.

UNLOPS supports institutional dialogue and improved coordination on peace and security policy, operations and programmes with a view to preventing violent conflict, managing crisis and countering terrorism. The office facilitates high level UN visits from New York and the field to Brussels, supports UN-EU and UN-NATO information exchange, and backstops the UN-EU Steering Committee on Crisis Management, the UN-EU Partnerships Meeting on Conflict Prevention, the UN-EU Leadership Dialogue on Counter-Terrorism, and the UN-NATO Staff Talks.
