On 21 October, come celebrate the UN’s birthday at Grand-Place in Brussels. The UN Brussels Team will be welcoming visitors to its Information village from 11:00 to 17:00.
Visit the Information village to learn about various aspects of United Nations activities in everyday life, including in the fields of Humanitarian Assistance, Human Rights and Peacekeeping.
Explore and play games to get a taste of the UN in the field. Experience extreme living conditions of refugees in a real refugee tent and taste the kind of food that is distributed in emergency situations.
Meet the UN Brussels Team. UN Staff will be there to answer your questions and talk about the different UN Agencies in Brussels, what they do and how you can support the UN’s work.
The United Nations team brings together 26 specialised agencies, funds and programmes spanning the development, humanitarian and human rights work of the UN. The team works to build understanding and support for UN system activities within the EU institutions and amongst a wider public in Europe.
Belgium @ United Nations
Do you know that Belgium is a founding member of the United Nations and that the first President of the General Assembly was the Belgian Paul-Henri Spaak? What is the impact of a country the size of Belgium on this large organisation of 193 Member States? How does Belgium contribute to the UN’s different programmes and missions?
Come to Grand-Place this Sunday to get answers to all these questions and learn more about Belgium at the United Nations.
The Belgian Federal Public Service for Foreign Policy and Development Cooperation will be highlighting their diplomacy activities and support for sustainable development. The Belgian Ministry of Defense, the Army museum and the Association of Veterans will have stands to present their activities and missions.
The two Belgian United Nations associations (APNU and VVN) will describe their information activities and their recruitment procedures.
Finally, the City of Brussels will also be there to explain the importance of the Grand-Place as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Join the UN in Brussels Facebook event for daily updates, teasers, last year’s photos and more.
