FIGHTING HUNGER TOGETHER

The United Nations World Food Programme invites you to an exhibition of photographs that captures the work on the fight against hunger around the world.

“Fighting hunger together” will be officially opened on 13 October, during Hunger Relief Week, by WFP Executive Director, Josette Sheeran and the Director-General of the Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO), Peter Zangl.

At the heart of “Fighting hunger together” is WFP-EU’s partnership and the humanitarian relief and development programs around the world that are possible with this partnership. The photographers, our own WFP staff and other professionals, have been able to catch the many ways communities, families and people are fighting hunger and eradicating poverty.

Nepal, December 2008
A woman receives food at a distribution in Southern Nepal. She was affected by floods when the Koshi River breached its levees with such force that it changed the course of the river. The floods destroyed most of the crops in what is considered the breadbasket of Nepal. This distribution was made possible by the assistance of the European Union. In 2009 the EU gave 245 million Euro contributions for WFP projects in 35 countries affected by humanitarian crisis and food insecurity.
